FISH REPORT 27 JUN09

Fished from opening until 9:30pm.  Saw a nice puppy drum come out of the surf along with a striper that did not quite make the 27 inch mark.  Some spots and roundhead were caught along with a stingray on a heaver.  Blue fish only hitting PIN RIGs. A decent amount of spanish were caught average size about 17 inches.  Fishing overall was very slow.

Everyone Good Fishing.

Re: FISH REPORT 27 JUN09

Mac, a "heaver" is a surf rod with backbone enough to throw "Bait & 8," which is a large sinker (~8 ozs) and bottom rig with cut bait. A "pin" rig is a two-rod system most often used from piers for live bait fishing. One rod has an anchor weight which is tossed out to form a tight line, while the other rod has an attached live bait--and the bait is slid down along the tight line and into the water. A snap-release holds the live bait line to the tight line, then pops loose when a fish hits the live bait. Often used for Kings, and usually the live bait is suspended withing 6 feet of the surface. Search Google for more...
